Baby's First Christmas!

Christmas Eve!
We spent Christmas Eve with my family at Collette's house. Complete with a yummy dinner of crab, shrimp, steak (for the non crab eaters), salad and potatoes, a dance off and a sing off, yummy treats, comfy jammies, a very cute nativity reenactment and of course ugly sweaters!

We decided to make ours this year, I loved the way they turned out and we won the ugliest!

My Baby Is 2 Months Old.

We went to Nikson's 2 month Dr appointment last Monday. He weighs 9 pounds 9 ounces, still only the 10th percentile. 22 3/4 inches, 60th percentile and 75th percentile for his head. He is starting to get some chub, he's got some cute chubby cheeks and a double chin, I love it. He is a very happy baby and smiles all the time, but his happiest time is in the morning.

He loves when his daddy tickles and plays with him. He doesn't make too much noise (especially compared to his cousin, Hadlee) but when he talks and coos its so darn cute! He is in size 1 diapers, but is in between newborn and 0-3 months clothes, some newborn clothes still fit but some are way tight on him and some 0-3 month clothes almost fit while others are HUGE. He has been sleeping between 6-8 hours a night which is awesome! He love his activity gym that we got him for Christmas (we gave it to him a little early) he also loves his bumbo, when he gets tired he can't quite hold his head up, but he still loves it! 

He doesn't look like the same baby anymore.

Best Cousins (part 2)

I had to steal these pictures from Megan's blog when I saw them!  Megan and I like to let Hadlee and Nikson "play" when we are together!  Most of the time Nikson is sleeping so he is not much fun, but this day he was wide awake and happy.  

It was so cute they just kept looking at each other and Hadlee would smile! 

Hadlee kept trying to stick her hands in his mouth and he just started licking her hands.  

It was so funny! (both of them have crazy hair in this one, I love it!)

I just  can't wait until they are a little older and can interact with each other more!

Thanksgiving!

One month.

I cannot believe my baby is a month old. He is getting so big, at the dr yesterday he weighed 7 lbs 5 oz (the 10th percentile) but he did have all his clothes on and that could add an ounce or 2.

He is still wearing newborn size clothes and some are still huge on him.
He loves to be on his tummy, it always calms him down.
He is trying to figure out how to smile and it's the most adorable thing in the world.
Started grabbing and pinching.
He loves his dad, and loves snuggling with him.
He has been going 3-5 hours between feedings at night, 6 hours if we are lucky.
He is such a good baby, barely cries unless we are changing his diaper or he is hungry

My little tiny baby.

Nikson was little when he was born, they considered him SGA (small for gestational age) so they had to do a few extra tests while we were at the hospital, but he did awesome and we didn't have to worry about anything. When we went in for his 2 week appointment the pediatrician was a little concerned that he wasn't gaining weight like he should, especially because we were already supplementing with a little bit of formula. At 2 weeks he was 6 pounds 5 ounces (back to his birth weight) and 20.5 inches (1/2 an inch longer) not as much growth as we were hoping for. We had to go back to the dr today for a weight follow up, today's appointment also counted as his 1 month well check up. Today he weighs 6 lbs 13.5 oz and 21.5 inches long. Only 5th percentile for weight but 75th for length (he is going to be tall and skinny like his daddy) and 50th for head. 8.5 oz in a week and a half is more what we wanted, the dr gave us some high calorie formula to supplement with so we can fatten our skinny baby up a little. I am pretty sure Nikson's cousins think that "little baby" is part of his name, most of them call him "little baby Nikson" and I call him "my little baby"' all the time!

I bet you can't guess that these pictures were taken just a few minutes apart. He looks so miserable in the first one and so peaceful in the last one, that peaceful look doesn't happen a lot. He doesn't really know how to relax (he gets that from his mom) his wrinkly face (he gets that from his dad :)). I am so excited for when he starts smiling because from the little sneak peeks we see it's going to be the cutest thing ever!

We love our little baby so much. He is a great baby. He usually only cries when we change his diaper, he absolutely hates that. He has always been a good sleeper, which I am so grateful for, mama needs her sleep. After his bed time feeding he usually goes 4-5 hours before his next feeding. One night he went 6 hours, I almost had a heart attack when I woke up and looked at what time it was.
He is our perfect little baby.

This is Nikson and his cousin Hadlee! Born about 7 weeks apart! I am so excited for them to grow up so close, I hope they stay best cousins!

Sweet Thing!

We made our way to Harmon's on the day after Halloween to pick up some groceries, little did we know they were having a blow out on Halloween candy. Buy a paper bag for $5 and stuff as much candy in it as you can. Yum.

This is our bag. Josh could barely carry it with out it breaking. We weighed it once we got home, 23.6 pounds!

Growing so fast.

Bili Baby

Our little Nikson really enjoys giving his mom a heart attack, something I think he will continue to do all his life (if he is anything like his dad). First he didn't want pee for us at all.  It was freaking the nurses out which was freaking me out. They said they needed him to pee in the first 24 hours, well that didn't happen.  He was fine with pooping, we changed 8 poopy diapers in his first 24 hours, he pooped like a champ.  The pediatrician came in on Monday morning and told us we really shouldn't start to worry until it has been 48 hours, which made me feel better but he pushed it. He finally peed after 36 hour since he was born. We celebrated his pee :) when the pediatrician was there on Monday morning he also tested Nikson's bilirubin levels and they were in the high risk zone and so all day Monday and until we got to go home on Tuesday he had to be under the lights in the nursery, they only would bring him out when he was ready to eat, which made it hard for visitors because they couldn't see or hold him and made it hard on me because I missed him.  We didn't get any pictures of him under the lights at the hospital but they did send us home with his eye wear he had to wear under the lights.  On Tuesday his bilirubin levels had dropped into the low risk zone but they didn't want it to jump back up so they sent us home with a light bed that he would have to be in all the time at home except for feeding until we went to the Dr on Wednesday to get his levels tested again.  He absolutely hated his bilibed, and so did I. Our little man likes to be swaddled and secure and in that bed he couldn't be. Our first night home I don't think there was a time that all 3 of us were asleep at the same time, it made for a long night. Josh is an awesome daddy and is so great with Nikson. He even let me go sleep on the couch for a little while while he tried to get Nikson back to sleep. At the Dr on Wednesday we got good news that his levels were continuing to go down and we were past the scary part and he didn't need to be under the lights anymore.  Night # 2 was a whole lot better. We had to go back to the Dr on Thursday and everything was looking great, so we don't have to go back until his 2 week appointment. 

His poor sore heels, he hated getting them
poked. So did I.

He has still kinda been a stinker about going potty for us (again giving me a heart attack) but needless to say every diaper change in this house is celebrated!
